Alter Climate has been named a winner in the "Next Big Thing" category of the World Circular Economy Forum's annual list of the world's most promising circular economy startups, reports the Washington Post.

The San Francisco-based company, which was founded in 2014, analyzes the effects of climate change on financial markets and provides clients with " actionable climate intelligence," according to a press release.

"The exponential growth of thecircular economy has created a new frontier for investment, and Alter Climate is uniquely positioned to take advantage of it," says the forum's executive director.

Alter Climate is backed by venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and it has raised more than $10 million from investors, per the Post.
