Applications Now Open for Isle Royale National Park Artists-In-Residence Program

For more than 30 years, artists have been visiting Isle Royale National Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula as part of the park's Artist-in-Residence program.

Now it's time for artists of all mediums to apply.

Between three and four adults will be selected for the adult program, staying at a cabin on Scoville Point in Tobin Harbor for two to three weeks in mid-June to early September, WLUC reports.

They'll have access to trails, canoes, and other types of experiences on the island, and they'll be required to donate a piece of their work to the park as part of the program.

There's also a Teen Artist Exploration program available for younger applicants.

The program will run for six days in July.

"We have a team mentor that travels with them to the island," says a park ranger.

"The artist that happens to be on the island at that time will also interact and engage with them so that teens can experience their art at Isle Royale through the eyes and experiences of a professional artist."
