"If the COVID-19 pandemic left governments and communities reeling with how to understand, contain, and protect against the virus, then we should demand for a comprehensive and thorough response to the catastrophic impacts of climate change."
That's the opinion of Maggie Doherty, owner of the Kalispell Brewing Company, who penned an op-ed in the Missoulian about Montana's current state of affairs on the subject of climate change.
The state is currently in the middle of an extreme drought, has seen hotter temperatures, and is experiencing more wildfires than it has in decades, Doherty writes.
"Our entire livelihood, and the future of our state, our nation, and our planet depends upon urgent action."
She notes that Gov.
Greg Gianforte did withdraw the state from the US Climate Alliance, a coalition of two dozen states dedicated to fighting climate change, but he has yet to implement recommendations from the Montana Climate Solution Council created during Gov.
Steve Bullock's final term.
