Jaiden Elyssa Bareng is a rising junior at Bakersfield High School in California, where she's the Junior Class President and she's also an advocate for women in STEM careers.

She's also one of 300 "Student Leaders" selected from across the country to attend a leadership summit in Washington, DC, this summer, where they'll discuss the importance of civic engagement and meet with members of Congress, per a press release from Bank of America.

Bareng, who graduated from Stockdale High School in May, plans to attend UC Berkley in the fall and pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM.

"Her parents' lack of healthcare resources while living in the Philippines inspired her to become an advocate of healthcare equity," per the release.

Thomas Woods is also a rising junior at Bakersfield High School.

He's also a part of the Bakersfield Economic Club as Treasurer to help students explore the key economic drivers of the Bakersfield economy and to help improve financial literacy in Kern County.

"By providing career and leadership development opportunities for teens, we can help develop the next generation of skilled workforce that is essential to Kern County's long-term economic growth," says Karen Zuber, president of Bank of America Bakersfield.
