Ai Innovation Challenge

The New York Climate Exchange is putting its money where its mouth is.

The nonprofit is holding its first-ever AI Innovation Challenge, and it's looking for students to come up with solutions to stormwater management issues in New York City, the New York Daily News reports.

"Stormwater surge is causing more frequent flooding of streets, transit systems, and homes, and legacy urban infrastructure is unable to keep up," the exchange says in a press release.

"As a result, communities, and vulnerable populations especially, need to respond to stormwater challenges with new and innovative resiliency solutions."

The AI Challenge will use IBM's watsonx.ai technology and the Call for Code platform, along with data from Moody's, Good Old Lower East Side, and the University of Washington.

Teams of four to five students will form, register to participate, and submit their ideas by April 30.

Five teams will advance to the second round, where they'll be given more time to come up with their solution for a final presentation in New York City this fall.
