Riba Announces Honorary Fellows 2024

The director of the Flanders Architecture Institute in Belgium has been named an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Guardian reports.

Sofie De Caigny, who took over as director in 2014, "has taken the FAI in an extraordinary and standout direction," the RIBA says in a statement.

De Caigny's work has included promoting Flanders architecture through her work at the German Architecture Museum and the De Singel International Arts Center in the Netherlands, among other things.

The nine new RIBA fellows, who will be recognized at an April 2024 ceremony, areYvonne Field, CEO of the Ubele Initiative, a social enterprise that "revitalizes disadvantaged neighborhoods, providing spaces that inspire and uplift," the RIBA says.

Colin Glen, project manager and structural engineer, "is a passionate advocate for affordable housing."

Belinda Irlam-Mowbray, founder of the RIBA Local Initiative Fund, "empowers a wide range of grassroots member activities."

Adam Nathaniel Furman, artist and designer, "is an inspiration to many students and young architects," the RIBA says.

"His work explores all scales of spatial design and art forms."
