The superintendent of a Georgia school district is stepping down after less than two years on the job.
Dalton Public Schools Superintendent Tim Scott, who began in the position in 2018, will take over as executive director of the Georgia High School Association on July 1, pending final approval by the GHSA's board of trustees, reports the Dalton Daily News.
The school board is expected to name up to three finalists for the job at a meeting Monday.
"We know we have work to do and progress to make to be the best school system possible for our students, for our staff, and for our community," officials said in a March release on the search for Scott's successor.
Scott has been with the school system for more than 20 years.
