Government services firm KBR, Inc.
( KBR ) recently announced that it has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force to provide technology and services for the F-35 joint strike fighter, as well as for the F-35B Lightning II and F-35C Joint Strike Fighter, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The contract, which KBR estimates to be worth around $5 billion, is expected to be completed in 2024.
Per the company, the F-35 program "is one of the largest and most complex military aircraft programs in the world," and KBR is "honored to be a part of its team that will provide technology, systems, and services that will enable the US Air Force to achieve its strategic goals."
Per the company, the contract will include the design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and operation and maintenance of the aircraft, as well as the training, equipping, and support of ground forces.
KBR reported third-quarter 2018 earnings of 52 cents per share that surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 15.4% and the year-ago earnings of 44 cents.
Revenues also surpassed the consensus mark by 8.9%.
