Sustainability And Innovation: The Key To Israel's Successful Development Story

There's a reason Israel is considered a "start-up nation" with a tech sector that accounts for up to 40% of the country's GDPand it's all about sustainability, Quartz reports.

"In Israel, sustainable development is not a frill or a buzzword; it is a necessity for improving the well-being of current and future generations," the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology says in a press release.

According to a 2016 survey, Israel recycles 87% of its wastewater, with Spain coming in second with 20%.

Israel also leads the world in the distribution of water technology, recycling 20% of its wastewater, Quartz reports.

"Israel also pioneered drip irrigation technology, which is said to help feed nearly one billion people by reducing a plant's water consumption by up to 90%," the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology says.

In addition to water technology, Israel's Start-up Nation sector also includes solutions for communication, internet, medical systems, agriculture, biotechnology, security, water desalination, wastewater treatment and recycling, and water management, digital printing, and more.
