An effort is underway to bring good paying energy and renewable energy jobs to the Buffalo Niagara region, it was announced March 24, 2016. The Crossroads Collective said they will pursue their goal with $500,000 a year, thanks to a $4 million grant from the Chorus Foundation. Buffalo will join three other states who have been chosen to pursue this initiative.

If energy policies switch to green energy initiatives, there would be significant health and economic benefits, according to the Partnership for Public Good, one of the eight groups pushing to bring the renewable energy jobs to the region.

The Executive Director of Open Buffalo, Franchelle Hart, said that legislation will be pushed at the state level to codify renewable energy initiatives. She also stated that cultural initiatives will push forward the clean energy message and that money would be available to study who benefits from keeping the status quo.
