The UN will hold its first-ever forum on science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development in May, with the goal of harnessing the "power of science, technology, and innovation to accelerate progress across the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," per a press release.

The UN Economic and Social Council says the two-day forum, scheduled for May 8 and 10 at UN headquarters in New York, will focus on the goals of eradicating poverty, zero hunger, climate action, peace, justice, and strong institutions, as well as on artificial intelligence and how it can be used to advance those goals, per the BBC.

Among the speakers at the forum, which is co-chaired by Denmark's Ambassador to the UN Markus Lassen and Permanent Representative of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Vincent Rhonda King: President of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis: "We need to harness the power of science, technology, and innovation to accelerate progress across the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."

Secretary-General Ant ? nio Guterres: "We need to harness the power of science, technology, and innovation to advance sustainable development while addressing the climate crisis."
