The world is about to get a little closer to outer space.
Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy on Tuesday announced the winners of the country's first-ever "Innospace Masters" competition, designed to spur innovation in the space industry, Phys.org reports.
The winners, who will now move on to the next round of the competition in April, will work with the European Space Agency to create a prototype of a tool that can be used in space.
"From satellite navigation in smartphones to cordless screwdrivers or ceramic hobs, space exploration has led to innovations that can be used in everyday life," the ministry said in a statement.
"The core objective is to initiate innovative project ideas for the next generation of space exploration, based on pioneering transfer of expertise from other industries to the space sector (spin-offs) and vice versa."
The competition is open to companies, start-ups, research institutions, and universities, as well as individuals. Read the Entire Article
